Beautiful weather and fantastic fishing at Whiskeytown Lake is keeping the Kokanee salmon fishing steady! In the 33 years of guiding I've never seen the Kokanee fishing this good at this time of the year. Every trip we are getting a bigger fish and I suspect I will see 17 and 18 inch fish by summer!

Sacramento River Steelhead
Even with this cold spell we are still managing to catch some giant fish on the Sacramento River. The last few days the water has hit really cold and the fishing has got a little challenging. The biggest steelhead in this season was this monster we caught drifting eggs. Water is still flowing at 3250 cfs. With fishing like this we will be bouncing from the lakes to the river all month.
